Simple Market Research

Hey, all Today I’m just going to be chatting about a great way to use Facebook; for fast and simple Business Market Research.

If your business is on facebook and you have a good following this allows you to asks simple questions about your business and its services. Whether it’s a simple request for feedback on your business or a direct question about your services, all of your fans can see this post and respond with their thoughts. Which could mean depending on how many fans you have you could get hundreds of customers response giving plenty of data on your business.

Here is some real example of Companies using facebook is this way:

  • Ben and Jerry’s used a facebook survey to ask people’s favourite Ice cream flavour. This simple question generated over 60,000 response, Giving them valuable product information and increase their facebook presence. it could even be argued that it probably increase their ice cream sales as well because it got people think about their favourite Ice cream which probably caused more than a few people to buy said ice cream.
  • Example two Pizza hut posted that they are having a comedy event at one of their new franchise and asked what sort of jokes they should tell. In five hours over 30 people had commented, this allowed not only to increase their facebook presence and again probably their sales but also to advertise the event itself and get people engaging with that event.
  • example three Starbucks encouraged their followers from all over the world to post their Starbucks moments, which probably lead a large in increase in their accidental marketing numbers (if you remember I explain this idea in my basic social media principals posts) since their friends will see a photo their tagged go up on the Starbucks which may lead to an increase of likes for the Starbucks page while also boosting their presence, reach and again their product sales no doubt.

expanding on this idea of using simple questions or market research to boost your online presence Jack in the box donated a nickel for every new fan who liked their page this small incentive raised over $12 thousand and they got over 230 new fans. While I can hardly call this accidental marketing it’s effective since it got people involved in their online presence which in turn boost their business reach.

These are just a few ways of getting your facebook fans involved in your page and in your business. Then you can use the data you collect to provide a better service to all your customers
